Tasting Notes
Sweetness in abundance as expected, with the nose filled with fruit (peach, banana, baked apple, dried apricot), acacia honey, vanilla, marzipan, and meringue. The warmth brings forth the aromas, highlighting baked goods (yogurt plum cake, crème brûlée), coconut oil, citrus hints, and floral notes. Beeswax. Oak is felt in length, providing a backdrop, never intrusive, a charm of age. Softie.
The theme of sweetness is retraced on the palate, but with a more pronounced floral aspect and a vegetal touch, introducing distinctive bitter nuances in the taste. The wood spices are more evident, featuring black pepper, ginger, and nutmeg in generous amounts, along with a more marked oak note that lingers. The framework remains the same as in the nose, with fruit and pastries always prominent, while losing the waxy note that made it rounder and more welcoming.
Finale quite long with pronounced spiciness on fruit, vanilla, vegetal and citrus notes.
Review: It does not seem to have held up well during the long maturation, at least in terms of tasting, with some excessive streaks that disappoint the expectations of an enveloping nose. Easy to drink, but lacking the complexity and richness one expects from such an important age.
