I continue the excursus of the first releases of the new Peg Whisky bottler with the second blended of the series, this time in a limited edition of 3,000 bottles and, like the previous one, the result of the union of malts and grains.
Being a small batch I would personally have preferred some more information on its composition, not the individual distilleries of origin but at least the types of barrels, but not everyone is John Glaser…
Apple and orange juice immediately rise to the nostrils, supported by slices of fresh bread, unripe banana, pineapple, lemon zest and sour cream. A fresh profile with biting tips, young and transgressive.
Less sharp on the palate, with a sweeter, rounder personality from which emerge touches of ginger on vanilla, ripe pear, honey, hazelnuts, cinnamon. Fairly evident malty notes in the background.
Quite long and peppery finish of hazelnuts, vanilla, apples, wood and malt.
A young blend, but edgy enough to be attractive, far from lovable or pandering, while remaining predictable and direct. Definitely a step up from the basic version, without much nuance.
