Sixth and final release for Macallan’s Harmony Collection, which in August 2026 adds to this series— inspired by the distillery’s connection with the natural world— the evocation of coconut, recalling the first bottling that drew inspiration from the dining experience offered at the Macallan Estate in collaboration with El Celler de Can Roca.
American oak casks seasoned with sherry, with the addition of some ex-bourbon selected for the lactones that carry coconut aromas, plus new American oak. As always, the packaging is made by combining paper with waste from the processing of natural products, in this case coconut shells.
Tasting Notes
Hats off, because on the nose the sweetness of coconut is all there. More than fresh, I’d say like a paste or ice cream, in any case processed, together with other pastry components such as meringue, vanilla, trifle, acacia honey and marzipan. In the background, porridge, currants, dried mango, lemon zest and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). A light mineral note underneath. The whole is very enticing, with a play of balance between sweetness and spiciness.
Good creaminess on the palate, where the citrus side returns, between lemon and lime, soaking into a rich fruity array (apples, mango, banana, currants, pineapple) and coconut, more subdued, in dried form. The pastry components form the background, with sugar paste, marzipan, vanilla, sweet licorice and honey, while tangy and mineral notes dominate, with a clear presence of wood spices. Grains linger on the length.
Finish fairly long and dry, with citrus fruits, spices, candied ginger, almonds, and a slight menthol note.
Conclusions: The very last in the series is actually the one that convinced me the most, with a structure and consistency that go beyond marketing and packaging. Pleasant to drink, with some interesting nuances, obviously still more than overpriced, but that’s what you expect from Macallan; there’s no point in making the price part of the evaluation.
