Another single cask from the Whisky Cellar line with a duck on the label, from a distillery that, like so many of those belonging to the beverage giants, only works to feed blends.
Initial maturation unknown with six months finishing in a cask that contained the prized Hungarian sweet wine, producing 289 cask strength bottles.
Tasting Notes
Quite fresh and clean nose, between fruity and vegetal notes with a light floral touch: green apple, peach, pineapple, pear juice, freshly cut grass, fennel, green tea, hyacinth. Mineral vein with sulphurous inflections. Over time, custard and tangerine emerge. Summery.
On the palate, you get thwe finishing with ripe red fruit (plum, blueberries, currants), nutmeg, ginger and blood orange, overshadowing the sweet and fresh side expressed on the nose. Almonds, cocoa, salted caramel, pineapple and a balsamic afflatus along the length complete the picture.
Quite long and dry finish of red fruits, nutmeg, nuts, vegetal notes.
A straightforward, no-frills whisky, the finishing works on the tip of a foil, giving light brush strokes to a pleasant but not memorable dram.
