Interviews Scotland Speyside Region The GlenAllachie Distillery

The Science and Art of Whisky: Exclusive Interview with Billy Walker

Interview with the Master Distiller of GlenAllachie

It is with great pleasure that I share an interview with Billy Walker, doyen of the whisky world with a career spanning over 50 years during which his name has been linked to the revival of many Scottish distilleries: Deanston, BenRiach, Glendronach, Glenglassaugh and finally GlenAllachie, of which he is currently at the helm.

Below is the video shared on the Whisky Club Italia channels: the interview is in English (a poor one on my side, my apologies!) wityh a short introduction in Italian, of which you find the translation right before the video.

Thanks to Antea Allegro for organising this meeting.

“Today we have the honour of conducting this interview with Billy Walker, current Master Distiller and co-owner of GlenAllachie. A person who actually needs little introduction given his career of more than 50 years in the whisky world: he began as a chemist with a brief stint in a pharmaceutical company, until he officially entered the whisky business in the 1970s. His is the re-launch of the Deanston distillery during the period of partnership with Burns Stewart Distillers, followed in 2004 by the purchase of BenRiach and, a few years later, Glendronach and Glenglassaugh. After they were sold, in 2017 he took over GlenAllachie with other partners, bringing it to the distillery we all know today.”
