A series of different and varied single malts is The Yellow Edition, which encapsulates the different regions, distilleries, precious woods, maturation and natural alcohol content. In fact, each bottling may contain selected single casks or exclusive small batches.
All the details of the product are represented on the label which is very beautiful and distinctive, even if it is Scotch whisky the bottle and label format has a western feel.
The bottling I am talking about today is Benrinnes 12 year old, the very famous distillery in Speyside that produces mainly whisky for Diageo and Johnnie Walker. The distillery is located at the foot of Mount Benrinnes, which is one of Speyside’s most prominent peaks.
It received the Gold Award at the Global Scotch Whisky Master 2023.
But let’s find out what surprises this bottle holds for our senses.
252 bottles were produced.
Tasting notes
Colour: honey.
On the nose, creamy scents such as Chantilly cream, whipped cream, dark chocolate, honey, caramel, toffee and then notable fruity hints such as peach, grape, cherry and currant immediately burst forth.
On the palate, fruit dominates and hints of fig, raspberry, peach, pineapple and more creamy characters such as whipped cream, caramel and a slight hint of cheesecake and tiramisu explode.
The finish is medium, with spicy hints such as black pepper, cinnamon, ginger and ending with a slight hint of vanilla and caramel.
In conclusion, an interesting and enjoyable single malt that can be paired with 90 to 100 per cent dark chocolate.
