Uncertain future for Glenfarclas

George Grant's departure opens up unforeseen scenarios

Glenfarclas is one of the (few) Scottish distilleries that is still family-owned… but the fifth generation at the helm of the company may also be the last.
The news had been circulating for some time, but now it seems to have been confirmed: George Grant, brand ambassador and sales director of the distillery, has entered what he himself described as ‘an extended sabbatical’, leaving an unbridgeable gap in the industry given his professionalism and friendliness recognised by all.

A void that also has repercussions for the future of the company, as George is the only son of the current chairman, John Grant, who could therefore be the last of the family to run the distillery, bringing an end to a long and successful tradition.

What this means for Glenfarclas is definitely too early to say, but there will certainly be decisions to be made in the near future as to who will take the reins of the distillery.
