I continue to taste the new releases of the duo Ermoli & Romano, again from the series The Young Masters Edition, with a distillery neglected in its own bottling but that finds new sap (and satisfaction) in independent expressions.
As always single barrel, with a distillate from 2006 that produced 341 bottles in 2020.
Tasting notes
Full gold in the glass.
On the nose it begins with vinous effluves that over time soften by slipping on gooseberries, plum, nutmeg, ripe peach, lily, licorice. A drop of green tea. Fresh and warm contents alternate, with a hint of salt in the background.
Lively at the entrance, with a blast of pepper and ginger accompanied by cinnamon and nutmeg, it’s dry and with a harmony of sweet and bitter that teases the taste buds and keeps the attention alive. Fruity flavors that intersect with vinous acidity and bitter nuances of spices, pencil chips, dried fruits and savory and balsamic tips.
Persistent and dry finish, savory, with vinous veins, orange, dried fruit, green tea.
A solid and structured whisky, which travels on a classic score knowing how to play with harmonies to never be banal and known, in elegant and level entertainment.
