The second edition of the Master of Whisky Tasting (first level) in Vicenza ended on 26 March, just a few months after the first one, marking another step towards spreading the culture of this distillate in this province as well.
It’s never easy to talk about whisky in this area of Italy; there are few establishments that offer a good choice by the glass and even fewer events dedicated to tasting. But something is moving, and in addition to the monthly calendar held by the Valley Beer’s Pub in Arzignano, similar initiatives are beginning to spring up in other contexts.
Even more important are courses like this one, organised by the Whisky Club Italia, which aim to make people discover all the fascination of a multifaceted distillate, now produced all over the world, through its history, production methods and curiosities declined in the four most important areas: Scotland, Ireland, the United States and Japan.
And I must say that in this edition I noticed perhaps even more curiosity and attention from everyone, a sign that we are really on the right track.
I would again like to thank everyone who followed me on these four evenings, people from the world of wine and catering, enthusiasts of other spirits who wanted to learn more about ‘the competition’, the merely curious, and also those who nurture the dream of being able to enter this world as an active participant.
And I can only thank Claudio Riva for renewing his trust in me, Serenella for her invaluable support, and Maria Angela for once again braving the improbable light conditions for the photos.
There is big news to come, but in the meantime we are looking forward to the third edition of this Master’s course in the second half of the year and maybe, sooner or later, the debut of the second level too!
