There seems to be no end to the dance at the top of the distilleries on Islay: after the change of Master Distiller at Laphroaig, Lagavulin also saw new blood arrive at the helm of the distillery.
In recent times, the first to leave Lagavulin was Georgie Crawford, who in 2018 was assigned to build the new Port Ellen, while his successor Colin Gordon just two years later went to replace the retired Mickey Heads at Ardbeg.
Pierrick Guillaume, who came from Caol Ila, also stayed for a short time, having recently returned to France, to be replaced now by Jordan Paisley.
A 100% islander with an engineering background and experience in the merchant ship sector, he was Performance Improvement Lead for Diageo’s brands from 2019 and now moves on to manage one of the most important distilleries in their portfolio.
