In addition to The Spirit of Art collection, among the new releases for the beginning of 2021 of Valinch & Mallet there are bottles from the existing ones, such as the Young Masters Edition of which this 12-year-old from Longmorn is part of.

Twelve years and three months spent in this barrel, twin of the one in which another of their bottlings, the Dufftown, aged, with a 2008 distillate that gave birth to 258 bottles in 2020, obviously always cask strength and all natural.

Tasting notes

Amber in the glass.
The nose is very fresh and floral, with an all Speysider delicacy opening on more classic notes of peach, plum, orange, honey, apple strudel, candied apricot, licorice. Coffee powder. The sherried influence plays on the tip of a flower, balanced by herbaceous tones.
It begins on the palate with a substantial spiciness on berries, cherries, anise, chinotto, orange juice, licorice, cocoa. Honey drop. Sparkling and lively, on the length it reveals a more bitter vein, which compensates for the decadent symphony of flavors. Pencil chips.
Long and dry finish where floral tones return on peach, berries, orange, coffee.

A solid, decisive whisky, which plays on the thread of precarious balances that are renewed between the nose and the palate in a tantalizing and fun round.
