Behind this evocative label are two names that we have already met on the blog (and that many should already know), those Andrea Giannone and Giuseppe Gervasio Dolci who are the creators and curators of the Milano Whisky Festival as well as another series of bottlings, the A&G Selection.

Here I find myself with a blended blend of whiskies from different regions of Scotland, specifically two from Speyside and one from the Orkney Islands (namely Highland Park, Macallan and Glenrothes), matured together from the beginning.

Dark amber in the glass.
The aroma on the nose is enveloping, warm, spicy, with orange peel, mango, dates, lemon peel. Sponge cake dipped in alcohol. The alcohol content gives the right push, without being invasive.
The palate is harmonious and welcoming, a spicy and creamy trifle, with ripe fruit (cherries, mango, peach) and candied orange. I also find a slight herbaceous background, very fresh, which balances the warmth of the scents. Pinch of pepper. Cereals.
Quite long finish of nutmeg, sponge cake, cereals, hazelnuts.

An invigorating, comforting whisky, a good companion for a muggy evening if you have no one to hug: a glass is no substitute for human warmth, but sometimes a good reminder of it!
